My Rifle

The Creed of a United States Marine

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rifle is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life.
My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.
I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who
is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me.,
I WILL...
My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not
the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make.
We know that it is the hits that count.,
We WILL hit...
My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life.
Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses,
its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel.
I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I
will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage.
I will keep my rifle clean and ready. We will become part of each other.
We WILL...
Before God, I swear this creed.
My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country.
We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!

Visit this link for a description of just what a Marine is and where
they come from. I take no credit for this little story, as it has
been around for a lot longer than I have. I saw a copy of it recently
and thought that some of the folks visiting this page might enjoy it.

What is a Marine?

I have recently joined a Web Ring of Marine Corps related sites. The
table below will allow you to jump directly to dozens of Marine sites of
different kinds. If you are hosting a Marine Corps related site, you
might want to check out the Web Ring for yourself. I will continue to
provide individual links to my favorite sites further down the page.
But this set of links is ideal for those who are new to net surfing and
are primarily looking for Marine Corps related pages. Let me know what
you think of the Web Ring links, and whether or not I should keep them
active on the page.

Below are groups of links to pages which deal with the Marine Corps or
have a Marine theme. Here you will find links to Official Marine
Corps pages, Personal Home Pages with Marine themes, pages by Marine
related organizations, and some commerical pages as well. I hope
you'll find them all interesting and useful. Please e-mail me if you
find any pages you think I might want to include.
